Brief description
A-SKIN is a tissue engineering company, developing new top-end cultured skin products for skin wounds. A-SKIN products significantly reduce patients’ pain and discomfort, minimize hospitalization and thus improve the quality of life. A-SKIN is a spin-off company of the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam, Departments of Dermatology and Pathology.

Problem in the market
Hard to heal skin wounds represent a major problem in the Western society. The high incidence is further increasing due to aging. Current treatment involves bandaging, wound crème’s, and skin grafts or biopsies to cover the wound. However, these treatments are labor-intensive, expensive and above all strongly interfere with the quality of life of patients.

How does A-SKIN address the problem
The first cultured skin product of A-SKIN, Tiscover®, offers a major breakthrough and affordable solution for healing long-lasting and hard-to-heal wounds. Tiscover® is the first autologous, full thickness skin substitute. Tiscover® vitalizes healing and can grow in the wound bed and preliminary clinical studies have been successful in stimulating inert wounds and healing chronic wounds.
