This VUmc spin-off offers nursing home and healthcare organizations a complete model of practice for the provision of medical care to vulnerable elderly and chronically ill.

Problem in the market.
The number of elderly will double in the coming years, while more and more frail, elderly and chronically ill people remain living at home, require special forms of housing or stay longer - often until death - in the care institution, This often involves  intensive medical care and counselling. Such complex care requirements thus blur the traditional boundaries between staying at home, in residential homes and in nursing facilities. Until now nurses only work within nursing homes; this is an unfortunate state of affairs to which Gerimedica can contribute its expertise.

How does Gerimedica BV address the problem?
Geri Medica works on innovation in care, both in and outside the nursing home. Gerimedica ensures that nursing homes are better able to plan and structure their actions and thereby proceed in a goal-oriented manner. The product range comprises: a specially developed web-based version of the Ecaris practice automation system, Ecaris information from the database for all participating physicians, permanent access to the latest guidelines and protocols, problem treatment combinations for the 25 most common geriatric problems, as well as support in setting up of the care practice.
