Griffin Discoveries BV

 Griffin

Brief description

This spin-off company has a favorable basis for developing GPCR-targeting compounds which could be of particular interest to the pharmaceutical industry. Griffin Discoveries can offer pharmaceutical companies collaborations in various phases of development, in which they can obtain maximum benefit of Griffin’s two products: the innovative GPCR technology platform and GPCR-related IP.

Problem in the market (challenge)
To this date, more than 50% of all available pharmaceutical agents are directed at G-Protein-Coupled Receptors (GPCRs). Because of the wide distribution and the ability of GPCR subtypes to mediate particular responses, GPCRs have been, and are predicted to remain, important drug targets. They therefore receive wide interest from the pharmaceutical industry, an effect that is enforced by the fact that only 100 out of 600 known GPCRs have been studied in detail, leaving a wide potential for discovery of new drug targets.

How does Griffin Discoveries BV address the problem (challenge)?
Many pharmaceutical companies try to find novel hits for emerging drug targets by applying resource-intensive high-throughput screening (HTS) technologies. Griffin Discoveries  is able to design drugs based on the receptor’s structure. This method requires less capital and materials, and is more efficient than a HTS approach.
